| Summary :The Seine is a river appreciated by
tourists but it is too an important axe for river transport (Paris is the
second european port of trade by the river). In order to maintain a navigable
level all the year long, constructions made under Napoleon III above and
below Paris are necessary. This video press kit drags us to the discovery
of Suresnes' constructions. Constructed as soon as 1866 those works possess
3 locks wich enable 5000 tons convoys to circulate. A river dam composed
of 20 metal "doors" called Level raisers (11 tons each) accelerate
or slow the flow of the river Seine according to the heavy rains or dryness
periods. |
