| Summary
: This demilitarised B28 H-bomb came directly from Albuquerque in New Mexico
on 11th March 2002. It is now installed in the Caen Memorial's new exhibition
space developing the theme of the Cold War, and is one of the most representative
weapons from the American arsenal of that period. It is housed alongside
other symbolic objects: everyday objects from both sides of the East-West
divide; a Soviet MIG 21; two sections of the Berlin Wall etc. For the visitor,
it is a stark reminder of the fragility of peace, and so contributes to
the reflection on the nature of peace developed in the newly opened exhibition
spaces dealing with the prevention of conflicts. |
