TITLE : WITHDRAWAL OF THE WASTES IN PARIS AREA : A FLUVIAL ALTERNATIVE SINCE 1996
|

|
|||||||
| Summary : Each year, 5 million tons of wastes
are produced in Paris region and one million ton of scoria, after the incineration.
The withdrawal of those 6 million tons is mainly made by the road. Big european
cities in Great Britain, Swiss, Holland use the river to transport their
wastes - wich reduces the harmful effects (bottling up, contamination, noise,
risk of accidents...). For four years, Ivry-sur-Seine has used the river
to evacuate the scoria. This kind of routing wich capacity is not used enough
in Paris area has navigable ways (with Oise, Seine and Marne Rivers) and
has enabled in four years the evacuation of 219 000 tons of scoria, wich
has prevented the traffic of 11 000 trucks. |
