Summary : Cogeneration and trigeneration are two production tecniques combined by electricity and thermal energy which have been developed for years by Elyo ( firm forming part of Lyonnaise des Eaux in the energetic sector). A turbine similar to those used in aeronautic will produce electricity and at the same time heat from gas. This heat is kept to feed district heating networks for exemple.As a consequence, the output reached (75 to 85%) is clearly higher than the one of a coal station. We speak about trigeneration when electricity, heat and cold are produced simultaneously. Co and Trigeneration are booming technologies thanks to the deregulation of European energy markets, its recent implementation in France as well as the high output and the reduction of wastes in the atmosphere
